From Phoenix:
Take I-10 south to Tucson then I-19 south to Nogales. As you enter Nogales take Exit 4 which is Mariposa Rd. Turn right at the light, wind through the hills and cross into
Mexico. You will then take the "new" four lane expressway for about 7 miles until you reach the toll station; fee is $1.50. Continue south for 3 miles until you reach the 21
kilometer station where you will park and go into the office. This office will require the following:
DRIVING INTO MEXICO HAS JUST BECOME EASIER! ALL YOU NEED TO OBTAIN AT THE 21 KILOMETER "ONLY SONORA" POINT IS A TOURIST CARD!
EVERYONE IN YOUR GROUP MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A TOURIST VISA:
#1. Proof of USA citizenship; Passport, Original Birth Certificate (no copies), Voter Registration card, or notarized letter.
TRAVELING WITH PETS - If your pet is going on the trip with you, visit your veterinarian and get the animal a checkup and health certificate before you go.
TOLL BOOTHS - There are three toll booths en-route at Nogales, Magdalena, and Hermosillo. The tolls varies between $2 - $6 at each booth.
